Today I would like to share the grace of God under the title, ¡°This Is the Resting Place and the Place of Repose.¡±
While Apostle Paul teaches about speaking in tongues, he cites the messages in Isaiah. People cannot understand languages of other regions other than the languages they use. Likewise, speaking in tongues, which is the gift of the Holy Spirit, cannot be understood by people as the language that allows communication with God. However, praying by speaking in tongues greatly benefits our life of faith.

All people live by carrying heavy burdens of life due to Adam¡¯s sin. The whole world

Romans 5:12 says, ¡°Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--¡±

Jesus redeemed us from our sins and gives true spiritual restoration to us.

Romans 8:1-2 says, ¡°Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.¡±

It is our Lord Jesus who encourages and look after us. There has been no God like Jesus who gives us life with His torn flesh and shed blood and loves us throughout the human history. Only Jesus came to the earth as the Son of God and forgave us our sins and gave us spiritual restoration instead. Not only spiritual restoration, but Jesus healed our bodies and hearts.

1 Peter 2:24 says, ¡°He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.¡±

If we hold the Scripture verses tightly, we can have a bigger freedom than now. The Bible says that Jesus Christ Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. Therefore, today you and I need healing so let us accept Jesus of our healing.

We can receive God¡¯s help through our prayer. When we pray, we can pray in our daily language or by speaking in tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:39 says, ¡°Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.¡±

Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised that believers would speak in new tongues.

Mark 16:17 says, ¡°And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.¡±

Here speaking in new tongues is called a sign to those who believe. Therefore, whosoever believes in Jesus and receives the Holy Spirit will speak in new tongues. The promises of Jesus were fulfilled by the coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:1-4 says, ¡°When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.¡±

Whosoever believes in Jesus will receive the Holy Spirit and speak in new tongues. There are intelligible tongues and unintelligible tongues. When the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, about 120 believers spoke in other tongues, but their speaking in tongues were intelligible. Many Jewish people came to Jerusalem to keep the feast of Pentecost across the Roman Empire. When the Holy Spirit came on Jesus¡¯ disciples, they began to proclaim the great works of God in each visitor¡¯s own language!

Acts 2:5-8 says, ¡°Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
Utterly amazed, they asked: ¡®Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?¡¯¡±

Jesus¡¯ disciples never learned any foreign language. Nevertheless, as they spoke in new tongues as the Spirit enabled them, all the Jewish people who came from other countries were so startled!

Once I heard a testimony from one Japanese believer. She had always prayed for her only brother¡¯s salvation and after receiving speaking in other tongues, she also prayed much through speaking in other tongues. At that time, her brother lived in Rome in Italy. One day she called her brother and suddenly she began to pray in speaking in other tongue. Her brother received a phone call, but she couldn¡¯t stop speaking in other tongue. After a while, her speaking in other tongue stopped and she explained what happened to her brother.
Then her brother said, ¡°Sister, you just said to me to believe in Jesus in Italian! You don¡¯t know anything about Italian. What happened?¡± Her brother was so amazed at this! His sister who was ignorant of Italian preached the gospel in that language so her brother repented and came to believe in Jesus.

And there is also some unintelligible speaking in tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:2 says, ¡°For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.¡±

This kind of speaking in tongue can be understood only by God. Therefore, we are privileged to secretly converse with God through speaking in other tongues. It is highly honored that we can tell the inside story to God. Nowadays many people live without telling the inside story because they have no one to tell or they are too busy to have a chance to tell. However, we can tell anything to God such as our circumstances or worry or trouble. Then how grateful we are!

Psalm 62:8 says, ¡°Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah¡±

Furthermore, our God who listens to our prayer is almighty so He is able to solve all our problems more than enough! How wonderful we can come before this God and pray! In our Christian life if we pray in speaking in tongues, we can enjoy much benefits.

1 Corinthians 14:18 says, ¡°I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.¡±

Apostle Paul gave thanks to God because he could speak in tongues more than all of believers. When I ministered at Seodaemun Church, one of our senior deaconesses lived in Jongro-Gu. Her husband was a detective and didn¡¯t attend church at all. The senior deaconess was faithful. Then one day while she was going to the cell group meeting, suddenly she felt emergency in her heart and wanted so desperately to pray. She couldn¡¯t find any proper place to pray around there so she ran to the telephone pole and knelt down beside it and began to pray, but not with a known language but speaking in tongues. People often turned back to see her, thinking that she might be a crazy woman. However she didn¡¯t mind at all but kept praying until she had a peace of mind and her heart became light. She went to the cell group meeting and then came back home and found that everything was scattered everywhere in her home. A robber came to her house and searched many things and threw them out to find some treasure. She hid gold and her husband¡¯s wage in a big package, but the robber didn¡¯t find it and took some other trivial things only. When the robber tried to search gold or money, God must have let her pray in speaking in tongues to cover the robber¡¯s eyes so that he couldn¡¯t find anything valuable. When the senior deaconess prayed in speaking in tongues, God covered the thief¡¯s eyes. I often have that kind of experience too. Sometimes I don¡¯t know what to pray, but have a desperate desire to pray; then the Holy Spirit nudges me to pray!

When I have a foreign crusade, I have to stand before a huge crowd. If I hadn¡¯t prayed in speaking in tongues, I would have been filled with anxiety and fear. However, if I prayed in speaking in tongues for a half hour or an hour, faith began to fill my heart and I could stand before the huge crowd with boldness. Then I cast out demons and prayed for the sick and then great works of healing would manifest. Therefore, speaking in tongues is most required for the works of the Holy Spirit.
We can have deep fellowship with God through prayer. If we pray in speaking in tongues, we are able to pray much longer.
Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:15 as follows, ¡°So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.¡±
We can pray with our own language and then in speaking in tongues; if we keep praying like this, we can pray for several hours or throughout night. We can pray with our own language and then begin to pray in speaking in tongues if we feel tired and then switch back to our intelligible language. We can pray for several hours without being tired in this way.

The Holy Spirit is interceding for us, following the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27 says, ¡°In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.¡±

We have a great privilege that the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us. In our life¡¯s journey, sometimes we feel all alone. Then we must remember that there is someone who is always with us and prays for us. The Holy Spirit who knows everything about us is always with us and prays for us.
Jesus promised in John 14:16 as follows, ¡°And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--¡± Therefore, you will never live alone with loneliness. Even when you can¡¯t pray at all, the Holy Spirit prays for you and guides you according to God¡¯s will.

However, we know well that we must pray, but we can¡¯t do it.
Sometimes we are too busy to pray or too tired to pray. In other times, we are too despaired to pray in trouble. If we face some controllable trouble, we can pray, ¡°Oh, God! Please help me through.¡± But if we have to face some impregnable hardship, we are unable to pray, but just sit down with a sad face and stretch our legs and look up to the heaven. Nevertheless, you are not alone even in this situation. Even if you are in this desperate situation that you are totally helpless, the Holy Spirit prays for you and guides you in accordance with God¡¯s will. If you open your mouth and pray in speaking in tongues, you can directly pray to God!

Romans 8:26 says, ¡°In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.¡±

The Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. When we desperately pray in speaking in tongues, the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us. If we pray in speaking in tongues, we can take our stand against the devil's schemes.

James 4:7 says, ¡°Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.¡±

When we pray with our own language or in speaking in tongues, the Holy Spirit works for us. If we feel sad or something unusual in our hearts, many times, the devil is working in us. If we pray in speaking in tongues, the devil is cast out immediately! I have felt this way more often than not.
I feel heavy and sad and depressed even though there is no one I hate or fight against and nothing to be depressed. Then I prayed to God saying, ¡°God, why is my heart so heavy?¡± God says, ¡°Pray in speaking in tongues.¡± I open my heart and pray in speaking in tongues and say to God, ¡°Oh, God. I open my heart wide before You.¡± Then He says, ¡°I take care of your burden.¡± When I pray in speaking in tongues for a while, I feel demons leave me one after another and finally I have peace of mind and calmness.
There is always limit to human help. First, people can¡¯t always be with us. Thus they are unable to help us all the time. And there is limit to human power. Even if they want to help us, there are many times they can¡¯t help us. However, the Holy Spirit is quite different from them. He is always with us and almighty so He can help us perfectly. We call the Holy Spirit Advocate and it means that He comes to us to help us. The Advocate is sent by God to be with us all the time to help us.
This word, ¡°Advocate¡± is very important so please repeat after me, ¡°The Advocate is sent by God to be with us all the time.¡±
This Advocate is here with us now. Please welcome Him with a big hand! Even though the Holy Spirit is invisible, He is with us. As soon as we believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit indwells us and never leaves us but will be with us for eternity. Therefore, when we face sufferings that we cannot handle, we need to seek for the help of the Holy Spirit with prayer. Then our good God will work marvelous things for us.
