Today I would like to share the grace of God under the title, ¡°I Am the Way and the Truth and the Life.¡±
A traveler who lost his way in the desert has basically lost his life. God guided the Israelites when they were going to the land of Canaan, passing through the desert. He guided His people with a pillar of cloud during the day and with a pillar of fire at night not to lose their way in the desert.

Exodus 13:21-22 says, ¡°By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.
Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.¡±

This special providence of God shows us how important it is to not lose our way. In the way of life, what do we look at to find the way?
When a pilot drives a plane into the sky, he needs to focus on the instrument panel. He should not rely on his eyesight or senses. In particular, when he faces a storm or cannot see anything because of fog, he needs to rely on the instrument panel. If he depends on his senses, not the instrumental panel, it surely leads to a disaster.

Proverbs 16:9 says, ¡°In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.¡±

Even if we plan our various courses of life, we won¡¯t be lost only when God guides us.

Psalm 119:105 says, ¡°Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.¡±

In the journey of life, the Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light for our paths.

Psalm 23:4 says, ¡°Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.¡±

The rod and staff of the Lord is the Bible itself. As God plants His rod and staff as His Word in the Bible, we must seek them not to be lost.
If we follow the Word of God faithfully, we can find our way. Abraham left his country, his people and his father's household and went to the land God would show him, obeying the word of God.

Hebrews 11:8 says, ¡°By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.¡±

Then what did Abraham look at when he left his homeland?

In Genesis 12:4 we can find the answer to it which says, ¡°So Abram left, as the LORD had told him.¡±

Abraham didn¡¯t know where to go, but he left, as the Lord had told him. It is about 1,000 km from Ur of the Chaldeans to Canaan. It was a great distance and would be a very tough journey. However, Abraham walked the way according to God¡¯s Word. And God blessed Abraham who obeyed Him and let every nation be blessed through him.

We must walk along the word of God. In the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 5:10 says, ¡°but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.¡±

In the Old Testament, God showed the way to the Israelites through the Ten Commandments. If we follow God¡¯s commandments, He will bless us and show His love to a thousand generations.

In the New Testament, John 1:17 says, ¡°For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.¡±

Chapter 13:34 says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.¡±

Mark 12:30-31 says, ¡°Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

God gives us the Old Testament and the Ten Commandments are the center of it which include ¡°"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not bow down to them or worship them. You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God.¡± And also "You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.¡± We call the Ten Commandments God¡¯s decrees. However, in the New Testament, we must love each other because Jesus said that love is the best. God reveals the secret of a prosperous life to us.

Psalm 1:1-3 says, ¡°Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.¡±

Here ¡°Blessed,¡± means ¡°happy,¡± in Hebrew. When we love the word of God and live following it, God will give us a happy life. And since Jesus came to the earth in the New Testament, we must follow Jesus who is the way to life. Matthew Henry said, ¡°The way to heaven is to walk with the Lord every day.¡± When we walk the way of life, we should walk with God all the time. In the Old Testament, we must walk with the Ten Commandments while in the New Testament, we must walk in these throughJesus¡¯ love.

We should walk with Jesus Who is the Word of God. The words in the Old Testament and the New Testament are real treasures to us.

2 Timothy 3:16 says, ¡°All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.¡±

2 Corinthians 4:7 says, ¡°But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.¡±

Even though we are mere jars of clay, yet we have precious Jesus within us.

When we cross the desert in a car, if it falls into a sand pit, it can¡¯t move on. If we step on the accelerator, it races, but digs into a deeper pit of sand. Then what should we do? We must lower tire pressure. If tires are inflated, they will dig up the sand; soft tires will make the car get out of the sand pit. When we lose the way in the desert of life, we should surrender ourselves to God and get rid of our pride, arrogance and self-satisfaction. Like flat tires, we must commit everything to God and give up all the things in life before Him. Don¡¯t ever try to solve anything on your own, but make yourself like a flat tire. Leave everything to God and pray to Him earnestly. Therefore, in difficulty, we must take time and go up to the prayer mountain and surrender everything to God and make ourselves much lower before Him. If only we rely on God, He will guide us.

In the journey of life, if we fall down, we shouldn¡¯t stay on the ground. The Psalmist prayed in a severe hardship.

Psalm 119:28 says, ¡°My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.¡±

Psalm 107:20 says, ¡°He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.¡±

Even if our soul is weary with sorrow and we are in despair and pain, we shouldn¡¯t give up, but come before God and rely on Him. Then God will send His Word and heal our body and heart and deliver us from danger. St. Augustine says, ¡°Wherever we fall, we should rise up again holding the staff of God¡¯s word.¡± When we think, ¡°I am finished! This is the end of the world¡±, we must look up to God who raises us up again. When we hold on to the word of God and pray, God will restore us again.

Jesus is the Word of God.

John 1:1 says, ¡°In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.¡±

When we wander far away from the Word of God, if we find Jesus, He is the Word of God and God Himself.

John 1:14 says, ¡°The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.¡±

Jesus is in God and God in Jesus; when we meet Jesus, we come to meet God!

John 14:6 says, ¡°Jesus answered, ¡®I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.¡¯¡±

Our life is compared with the way; there are two ways in life. The way to life and the way to death. Then the way to life is only Jesus. Thus Jesus said, ¡°I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.¡±

Which way to choose is up to us before God. When we accept Jesus the Way to life as our Savior, we will receive eternal life.

John 15:10, ¡°If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.¡±

¡°and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.¡±(1 John 3:22-23)

Then we must receive the word of God and meet Him. We must have live faith. Through experience we should have real faith that is alive.

Last year, senior deaconess Cho, MunJa in Mapo district in our church brought her niece to me for prayer. Her niece could not have a baby so she needed my prayer for it. Her two fallopian tubes were not functioning so even IVF was impossible and there was no way for her to have a baby. She received my earnest prayer and a few days ago I received a letter from the senior deaconess that her niece was pregnant! After receiving prayer from me, she became pregnant right away and now she has been pregnant for three months! I saw her bring a picture when she came to receive prayer. How can I show it to you? She drew a picture that she was pregnant! Therefore, I saw it and the senior deaconess and her niece saw the picture. God said,
¡°If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.¡± So I said to her that after we prayed, even though your pregnancy was impossible physically, it is possible with God! So ask Him to do it for you. They used the law of visualization in their prayer so their prayer was answered. In your prayer, please use the law of visualization. People just pray without using this wonderful spiritual law. Abraham once said to God, ¡°I have prayed for fifteen years for a son, but you haven¡¯t answered me yet. I am deeply disappointed!¡± Then God said to him, ¡°Come out of your tent in the evening.¡± When he went out of his tent, God said, ¡°Look up at the sky! What do you see?¡± ¡°I see stars.¡±
¡°How many stars are there?¡± ¡°Countless!¡±
"So shall your offspring be." Then Abraham believed the Lord, and He was pleased with his faith. Through the law of visualization, Abraham saw the things that were not as though they were and it pleased God very much. When we have positive thoughts and dreams and pray that it will be done and confess the things that are not as though they were, God is pleased and gives us His grace.

When we look at those stuffed eagles or bears, they seem to be alive. Eagles¡¯ eyes are bright and bears seem to run into us with their claws. However, they are dead! They are lifeless and unmoving stuffed animals. If someone carelessly touches one of them, they will fall down helplessly and be shattered. Your perfunctory and legalistic faith is like these stuffed animals; if you have to face suffering and difficulty, your faith will tumble down and reveal its lifelessness. Our living faith works through the Word of God by the Holy Spirit. " 'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." We must experience the miraculous work of the living God. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. ¡°And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." ¡±For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Now Jesus is among us. When we are at the dead end, if we rely on our Lord Jesus, He will work for us. When Jesus works in your life through the Holy Spirit to solve your problem, you can have a real faith of life. We must have this real faith; if not, there will be only sorrow.
